Meet the team behind The Literacy Channel!Ā

Dr Jen O'Sullivan is a lecturer in literacy education in Marino Institute of Education. She is the author of A Sound Beginning for Reading and co-author of the Sounds Like Phonics programme. She is an executive committee member and past-president of The Literacy Association of Ireland. She is a research fellow in the TCD School of Education and, in 2022, was the recipient of a Fulbright Scholarship Award.

Dr Treasa Bowe is a primary teacher in Co. Cork. Her interests lie in effective literacy instruction for senior classes meeting the needs of all learners.

Clara Fiorentini is a lecturer in Initial Teacher Education (English Methods / Literacy), Children's Literature and Early Childhood Education (Early Literacies and Play Based Learning). Prior to this, Clara taught for eleven years in an urban, DEIS primary school in Co. Dublin, Ireland.Ā Clara holds a Masters in Childrenā€™s Literature and is currently undertaking PhD research in early literacy development and transitions to formal literacy learning.Ā Clara is also an executive committee member of the Literacy Association of Ireland and was the president for 2024.

Deirdre Oā€™Toole is a primary teacher currently studying for a PhD in Literacy Education at Mary Immaculate College, Limerick. She has a keen interest in literacy acquisition and is passionate about professional development for teachers.Ā Deirdre was awarded 'Science of Reading Teacher of the Year' by Nessy Learning in 2023.Ā Ā
